National Clergy Action and Local Press Conference
Today, two of our CLEAR DFW clergy are representing us in Minneapolis, as part of a large national clergy action there. Revs Mara Bim (Royal Lane Baptist) and TJ Fitzgerald (First Unitarian, Dallas) are both there today.
We stand with them, and with all clergy who made the journey to Minnesota for today’s action.

In solidarity, our local CLEAR DFW clergy will host a press conference at noon today, at Kessler Park UMC in Oak Cliff.
Here is an excerpt of our press release:
As recently reported by the Washington Post, federal immigration officials plan to open a 1 million square foot ICE holding facility for up to 9,500 detainees in a warehouse in Hutchins, TX, in southern Dallas County. We must do everything we can to support the mayor and residents of Hutchins in opposing the warehousing of thousands of immigrants in inhumane conditions in our backyard.
Friday’s press conference will be held in solidarity with our interfaith colleagues in Minneapolis/St Paul who have called upon faith leaders across the country to join them in addressing the crisis we all face. As they say, “This is a crisis of our Constitution, federal overreach, militarized enforcement, and the erosion of civil liberties.”
In the same week we celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, we will join with many others across America to represent a vision of a Beloved Community across all our differences, one in which every person’s human dignity and humanity is upheld.
